Step by Step: How we rise above the destruction of Hurricane Helene

Created as an entry in the 2025 Asheville Quilt Show Member Category (“Weathering the Storm”), this ‘story’ quilt shows the process we’ve all been experiencing in the arduous process of recovery. This quilt has been donated to the Mountain Gateway Museum in Old Fort, NC. Most of the imagery in this quilt is specific to my hometown of Old Fort …. the yellow house (Mauny House) was the office for the museum, and the mangled railroad tracks are ubiquitous sights. I’m very pleased to say this quilt won first place in its category. 31″ x 47″.
